Why MedCoord exists

This year, someone close to me needed not one physician but several at once: from different specialties, in the same weeks, for things that affected one another. Two months of consultations, investigations and waiting for results followed.

Every physician was very good at their part. But information does not travel between specialties. Nobody is to blame: there is simply no place where a person's file exists whole. Each physician sees what the patient managed to bring along that day, in an envelope, on a phone, on a CD.

Each one held a piece. Nobody held the puzzle.

I gathered every document, every investigation, every discharge letter. I read them, cross-referenced them and brought them to every consultation in one file, in order.

I caught six errors in the paperwork before they reached a physician. Not because I know medicine. I do not. Because I had read all of it, one page after another, which a person who sees you for twenty minutes, with only what you brought in front of them, cannot do.

There were days when it mattered that I knew the whole journey by heart, not only what had happened that morning.

There came a consultation where everything hung on a single decision. I prepared the complete file: not only the result it depended on, but everything connected to it, put together, checked, with what mattered at the top.

The physician looked at the whole picture and could decide with full knowledge, not in the dark.

What was decided stays between him and the patient. It is not my story and I do not write it here. My story is what he had in front of him at that moment.

The difference did not come from a medical act. It came from complete information, reaching the right person in time. That is all. A small, administrative, unglamorous thing. And a hard one, because it asks someone to read everything, connect everything and be there at every step.

Not everyone has someone who will do that. And those who do, do it on paper, at night, between two trips to the hospital.

One place for every medical document. One timeline of the whole journey. One summary ready to hand to the physician, checked by a person before it leaves, with the important alerts at the top.

It is not a medical device and it does not diagnose. Diagnosis, decision and treatment stay where they belong: with the physician. MedCoord does one thing: it makes sure the right information reaches the right physician at the right time.

Because the patient in it is a real person, and their medical data is theirs, not mine. It is published with their consent.
